I thought it might be a fun project to snap a photo and post a blurb each day for a year as way to keep in touch with family and friends who are far away. And as a way to stop and smell the roses as they say. Even though in Chicago, for much of the year, the roses are covered in ice and snow and are often peed on by dogs.

South Street Beach
South Street Beach (on the Chicago Evanston boarder) is a favorite late fall place for me. It's empty, quiet, a good place for a beast of a dog to run around. An overall fine place to enjoy the last of the good gardening and good weather. And speaking of, I think it officially turned over to Chicago fall today. Just in the middle of the day. Burrr.
Also, I just bought the Fleet Foxes album after hearing the song "White Winter Hymnal" on the radio and I think they are awesome. They are like Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young meet the Beach Boys. And at times they think a little like M. Ward. I loved the music video too.
