We camped out at the drive-in movie theater tonight. I forgot my camera but there was a boy and his dad lying on the hood of their car next to us and I listened as the dad told the boy that we once sent men to the moon. The boy could hardly believe it.
"Why?"
"Because the president said 'we should go to the moon' and so they went to the moon."
"How'd they get all the way up there?"
"In a rocket ship."
Silence and awe. Then, "Where'd they get a rocket ship?"
A little more silence. "Florida."
Then the boy became concerned about alligators. But, while it lasted, it was awesome to hear the story told like a fairy tale.
